Located on the Hunerkogel at 2700 meters above sea level, it protrudes from the center of a vertical rock face that drops 250 meters straight down, with the region’s most beautiful peaks seemingly close enough to touch. One of Styria’s most popular excursion destinations is the Dachstein Ice Palace, which we find inside the Dachstein Glacier. Surrounded by meters-thick ice, Dachstein visitors experience a frostily fascinating world of glacial ice, ice sculptures, ice chambers and fascinating light and sound effects.
