Thirty Seconds to Mars were in great spirits when they were welcomed by mayor Jürgen Winter, Managing Director Ernst Trummer und Tourism Director Kurt Pfleger.
The finishing slope was a dazzling white while good-humoured stars helped create a perfect party atmosphere among over 8,000 fans in the newly-built World Championship Park Planai – the conditions really couldn't have been any better.
At around 19.00 Marlon Roudette cranked up the atmosphere with number one hits such as “New Age” and “Big City Life”, before the newcomer of the year, Natalia Kills, stepped onto the stage in a hot outfit in defiance of the chilly Styrian weather. Her sexy show, featuring hits such as “Mirror”, lent a real touch of glamour to Schladming’s slopes.
Fans have long considered Thirty Seconds to Mars the world's best alternative rock band and they pulled out all the stops to demonstrate why: Jared Leto and his bandmates belted out hit after hit and are sure to have roused Mother Hulda from her summer slumbers.
Over 100 national and international media representatives were present to deliver reports from Austria’s ski capital. The stars arrived in high spirits on a Planai snowcat at the famous “press conference in the snow”. The white finishing slope, the “Planet Planai” and the new “World Championship Park Planai” formed the perfect backdrop. Planai’s Managing Director Ernst Trummer, the mayor of Schladming, Jürgen Winter, and the Director of Schladming-Rohrmoos tourism association, Kurt Pfleger, were present to officially welcome the stars. And it goes without saying that the Schladminger Rock loden jacket made its now obligatory appearance.
There has been continuous skiing in Schladming since 23 October 2011 and thousands of visitors took to the Planai’s slopes over the weekend of the concert.

Natalia Kills is welcomed at the Planai Stadium by the proud hosts, mayor Jürgen Winter and Managing Director Ernst Trummer.

Ke$ha und OneRepublic - 4 December 2010
Over 8000 fans made the pilgrimage to the World Cup town to witness US newcomer Ke$ha and rock stars OneRepublic mark the start of the new skiing season at the Planai Stadium. And as if this wasn’t enough, supermodel Heidi Klum was also in attendance with the would-be models from her show “Germany’s next Topmodel” to the delight of the audience.
The conditions couldn’t have been better: A snow-blanketed winter landscape, perfectly groomed runs and high-spirited superstars. In the morning Ke$ha was first to take to the snow before warming up in the newly-opened Skirock Café in the “Planet Planai”.
At 19.00 the Ö3 Soundcheck winner Norbert Schneider livened up proceedings by performing his hits before the young ladies from “Germany’s next Topmodel“ took to the catwalk. With her up-and-coming models Heidi Klum provided a touch of glitz and glamour around the slopes.
After trying her luck on a snowboard in the morning, Ke$ha really got the fans going in the evening in customary style and rocked the Planai Zielstadium.
And OneRepublic rolled out their hits, causing the audience to go wild despite the biting cold.
Representatives of 150 national and international media outlets reported from Austria’s ski capital. The stars gathered for the famous “press conference in the snow“ in extremely high spirits and with absolutely no airs and graces. What’s more, an idyllic winter landscape and the new “Planet Planai” provided the perfect backdrop. Planai business director Ernst Trummer, the mayor of Schladming, Jürgen Winter, and the head of the Schladming-Rohrmoos tourism association, Kurt Pfleger, officially welcomed the stars. And it goes without saying that the traditional Schladminger Rock loden jacket was also on view.
There has been continuous skiing in Schladming since 23 October 2010 and thousands of skiers took to the slopes ahead of the concert. Planai-Bahnen has invested around EUR 26 million in new infrastructure this year.

David Guetta - 5 December 2009
Over 13,000 fans attend David Guetta concertConditions could not have been better: a deep-snow winter landscape, perfectly prepared runs and David Guetta at his best. At 21:30pm, the wait was finally over for enthusiastic fans who came to the season launch event.
Superstar DJ David Guetta opened his sensational set with his mega-hit, “I Gotta Feeling”. With more than 13,000 visitors, the Schladming ski season opening event in the Planai stadium, which sold out three weeks before the event, broke all previous visitor records. 280 national and international media representatives attended a press conference in the snow with David Guetta at the Planai Bergstation (1800 metres above sea level) and met the visibly cheerful star, who had only just arrived from LA. The star DJ arrived for the press conference wearing a real “Schladming Rock” jacket, in a Guetta Look-branded VIP cable car gondola. The press conference was held against a background of an ice-cool DJ booth. Planai Managing Director Ernst Trummer and Schladming Mayor Jürgen Winter officially welcomed the renowned artist.
But there was no ice in the mood at David Guetta’s mega-concert – the evening was super-hot, and not even the summer’s mega-hit “When Love Takes Over” (feat. Kelly Rowland) was missing.
Budding Austrian pop star and 2009 Amadeus prize winner Anna F., who toured with Lenny Kravitz in the spring, opened the concert in the Planai Stadium.

KID ROCK - 7 December 2008
The appearance of US rocker KID ROCK at the Schladminger Planai Stadium caused a small commotion – cheered by some 6.000 excited fans. Another highlight was the press conference in the snow before the actual concert at the Planai finishing line with KID ROCK. He controlled the run device in person.
After KID ROCK‘s arrival in Schladming, he first went to the finishing line in order to answer the questions of some 170 (!) media representatives. As can be expected Kid Rock controlled the run device specially designed for the occasion – patrolled by five more devices – to the location. The managing directors of the Planai-Hochwurzen railways, Komm.-Rat Dir. Albert Baier, mayor Jürgen Winter and Tourism Manager Kurt Pfleger personally introduced the rocker. During the interview KID ROCK presented himself good-natured and endured 30 minutes during the bitter cold to answer the questions of the media while smoking his cigar. The Planai-Hochwurzen railways and the Tourism Association Schladming presented their investments in the scope of this ski festival. Some € 30 million were spent for the new parking garage at the Planai Stadium, a new Tele-mix cable railway system (one gondola follows after three chairs) and a hotel next to the Planai Stadium.
The acts „Cardiac Move“, „Finger11“ and „Sorgente“ got the concert started before 6,000 fans in the Planai Stadium. KID ROCK himself presented an impressing show on his giant stage (Outside measurements: 22m long, 12 m high), including excellent light effects. 20 million sold records proved him an exceptional artist from Detroit (USA). He entered the European pop heaven with his newly published record 'Rock N Roll Jesus’. His summer hit „All Summer Long“ is still being played up and down the charts on a number of stations. As Kid Rock himself stated during the press conference, he will enjoy a short holiday in Schladming and go skiing on Monday somewhere on the Planai runs.

PINK - 8 December 2007
Superstar Pink’s performance at the Schladming Planai Stadium was a sensation in itself, cheered on by more than 7,500 ecstatic fans. The biggest highlight prior to the concert, however, was Pink’s official opening of the Planai “music slopes”, a world novelty.
After Pink’s arrival in Schladming, she rode up to the Planai – naturally, in a trademark pink Planai Cable Railways gondola lift that was especially coloured for her. The official reception of the female rock singer was conducted by Planai Cable Railways manager, Komm. – Rat (comm. council) Dir. Albert Baier, and the mayor, Jürgen Winter. With a powerful push of the start button, Pink officially opened the new music slopes atop the Planai – and the first skiers skied down to her hit song, “Get the Party Started”. The music slopes of the Planai are now open to all skiers.
Pink – who was accompanied by her husband, Carey Hart – was in a great mood during an interview with journalists (a total of 120 local and foreign media representatives, photographers, and TV teams). At the concert, which took place at the Planai Stadium, the supporting band, “Excuse me Moses”, got the audience rocking. The first members of the audience had already been waiting in the cold for Pink since 7 this morning, in order to obtain the best spots. Pink gave an impressive show on the giant stage with brilliant light effects.
