Hiking on and around Schladming's peaks! 

In cooperation with the Schladming-Pichl-Rohrmoos Tourism Association and the Schladming-Dachstein region, we have compiled the loveliest and very promising hikes on the Planai, the Hochwurzen and in the surrounding areas!



Planai hiking tips: Alpine walks, World Championship route & natural experience

Planai Panoramic Circular Trail

Anyone who likes to take it easy can stroll along the panoramic circular hiking trail at the peak of the Planai.

The panoramic hiking trail can be reached with the gondola to the Planai Mountain Station, where the pram-accessible trail begins and circumnavigates the peak of the Planai.

Here, you will also find the "Place for Reflection", a walk-in wooden sculpture amidst a breath-taking landscape.

A walking time of approx. 1 hour will allow you to experience the natural world of Schladming's local mountain.

Planai hiking tips: Alpine walk, world champion trail & nature experience

Planai Panorama Trail

Those who like to take it easy on their hiking holiday can walk the panoramic circular trail at the summit of the Planai. From the centre of Schladming you can take the gondola up to the Planai mountain station, where the path, which is suitable for pushchairs, begins and circles the summit of the Planai. Here you will also discover the "Place of Reflection", a walk-in wooden sculpture in the midst of breathtaking scenery.

During a walking time of approx. 40 minutes, you can experience the flora and fauna of Schladming's local mountain.



Nature on the trail, Hochwurzen

A gentle hike with a lot of information on the fauna and flora of this mountain world.

Hiking here is not only fun, but you learn something too!

The starting point of this simple Alpine stroll is the Hochwurzen Mountain Station.Travel time: approx. 1 hour.



Planai World Championship Trail

This "Forest & Knowledge" hiking trail follows in the footsteps of the Alpine world champions along the major points of the Alpine Ski World Championship 2013.

Here, you will see the starting positions of the world's best ski stars from another perspective.

Along the way, you will find interesting details and background information on the sporting spectacle which has brought the Planai international fame.

The starting point of the tour is the Planai Mountain Station and is about the same as after a stunning day's skiing, you can stroll along the World Championship Trail, with a walking time of approx. 1 hour to the town center of Schladming.



Hiking at the Krahbergzinken, Planai

A hike to the summit of the Krahbergzinken is a particularly eventful tour. Starting from the Planai mountain station, an easily accessible gravel path leads directly to the summit, which can be reached after about 1 hour and 15 minutes. From there you have a fantastic view that - on fine days - stretches from Styria over Salzburg to Upper Austria. 

Tip for all early birds: A hike to the Krahbergzinken in the morning is very worthwhile - here you can especially enjoy the beautiful sunrise.
