A special highlight of this emotional event will be the unique opening ceremony in the Planai stadium: The entering of all 107 delegations, the hoisting of the Special Olympics flag, the presenting of the Special Olympics oath and the ignition of the "Flame of Hope" - will be unforgettable moments! Here you will find all the important details about the opening ceremony on March 18, 2017 at the WM-Park Planai, the athletic competitions on the slope 32 (Hochwurzen), the Hopsilift (Rohrmoos) and everything else you need to know about this spectacular event (parking lots, timetable, etc.)

Heartbeat for the world

Thanks to the great dedication of the late Special Olympics President Hermann Kröll († 2016), the first Olympic winter games took place outside the USA in 1993 in Schladming. In 2017, the Special Olympics World Winter Games will be hosted for the second time outside the US - again in Styria.
We hope we can convey these feelings of community and all our guests and thank you at the same time for understanding possible restrictions in daily operation!
