Fit for the ski season Tips for the perfect start to winter in the Schladming-Dachstein region

On the slopes, get set! The winter season in the Schladming-Dachstein region is just around the corner! Can you hardly wait to make your first turns again?

Finally enjoy the snow-covered winter landscape again. Finally feel the crunch of snow under your boots again. Finally skiing again! My anticipation grows with every glance at the snow-covered mountain peaks. Are you feeling the same?

In this blog, I'll take you with me on my final preparations for the coming ski season.

Fit for skiing fun

Jumping rope, squats & co.

However, every winter sports enthusiast realizes that the thighs play a "supporting" role in skiing by the time they reach the final descent. So to make sure you don't end up with the muscle cartilage of your life on your first day of skiing, now is the time to get in shape with a few targeted exercises.

Jumping rope, for example, is one of my favorite warm-up exercises.

Regular squats or lunges are simple exercises that can be done anywhere - alongside brushing your teeth, for example. They not only ensure that the muscles in the legs are trained, but also help to strengthen the stability in the torso, which is also necessary when skiing.

For this reason, training the abdominal muscles should not be neglected. One of my favorite exercises to prepare for the ski season is the well-known plank. How long can you hold this position?

However, as falls can always happen on the slopes and there is no time to google the right phone number in an emergency, here is a list of the most important emergency numbers for you:

140 - Alpine emergency number | 112 - Euro emergency number

I go skiing and take...

Where have I actually stowed my gloves? Do my ski pants from last year still fit? Does the jacket need to be waterproofed again? Questions upon questions that you ask yourself every year at the start of the season... As we all know, good preparation is the be-all and end-all. This also applies to skiing and especially to tours in alpine terrain.

In addition to the right equipment, waxed bases and sharp edges are a basic requirement for fun on the slopes. Over the summer, however, there are many things that could have damaged your skis - dirt, dust, rust... After this long break, they should therefore definitely be freshened up again and taken in for a service!

Start of the season in the Schladming-Dachstein region

On the slopes, get set, go!

The combination of speed and strength is probably what makes skiing such a special sport and puts a smile on the face of every winter sports enthusiast after the descent. Here we go again! Everything is ready on the ski mountains. The Planai started the winter season yesterday. And on the Reiteralm, you've been able to make your first tracks in the snow since last week!

The ski resorts are ready, you are ready and your legs and equipment are ready too - so nothing stands in the way of a fantastic ski season!

With this in mind: Let's go skiing!
