The legendary Nightrace and the night giant slalom in Schladming, which has been taking place since 2023, are among the World Cup races with cult status in alpine skiing.

Every year, thousands of fans flock to the Schladming-Dachstein vacation region to experience these spectacular sporting events live at the foot of the Planai. The special thing about these two events: they take place under floodlights , which creates a unique atmosphere and gets the Planai Stadium buzzing.

Every year at the end of January, Schladming becomes the venue for what is probably the most spectacular ski race in the Alpine Ski World Cup winter. You definitely shouldn't miss it!

26 January to 28 January 2026

Monday, 26 January 2026:

  • 3.30 p.m. Start of THE CHARITY RACE – free admission!
  • 7 p.m. Official draw for start numbers at Wetzlarer Platz
  • Until midnight Party in the World Cup Mile – free admission!

Tuesday, 27 January 2026:

  • From 12 noon Party in the World Cup Mile – free admission!
  • 5.45 p.m. 1st run of THE NIGHTRACE giant slalom
  • 8.45 p.m. 2nd run of THE NIGHTRACE giant slalom

Wednesday, 28 January 2026:

  • From 12 noon Party in the World Cup Mile – free admission!
  • 5.45 p.m. 1st run THE NIGHTRACE Slalom

Arrival by car

Please note that there may be waiting times on arrival. Therefore, plan enough time and arrive at the event site as early as possible. The parking guidance system will help you find your way – follow the signs and use the parking spaces provided by the city of Schladming.

The underground car park and park house at the Planai Stadium will be closed on event days.

Schladming railway station is a 17-minute walk from Planet Planai.

Winter Sports Center WEST

If you want to start your ski day relaxed and hassle-free, we recommend the Winter Sports Center WEST:

  • Planai West cable car operates from 8:15 am to 4:15 pm
  • Plenty of parking spaces directly on site
  • Ski depots open and easily accessible

Downhill runs & finish slope

From 19 January 2026, the finish slope will be closed. Please note that on the event days of 27 and 28 January 2026, both downhill runs (run 1 from Planai 3 Tal including the finish slope, run 2 from Fastenbergbahn valley station) will be closed!

Gondola operating hours

On event days, the regular operating hours will also apply at the Winter Sports Center WEST.

Please note: On event days, the Planaibahn will have limited operating hours. Rides to the middle station will only be possible until 3 p.m.

During race days, there is no evening operation on the Hochwurzen.

Ski depot

The Planet Planai ski depot will be closed on 27 January and 28 January 2026 from 3 p.m. onwards. After 3 p.m., access will not be possible.

Skibus

The Planet Planai skibus stop will be relocated to Rathausplatz between 22 January and 30 January 2026. Routes will continue as normal from there.

Changes to arrival by car

from 19 January 2026

The underground car park and park house at the Planai Stadium will be closed on event days. Therefore, it is best to use the parking facilities at the Winter Sports Center WEST (car park 4).

From 19 January 2026, the area around the stadium, including the entrance, will be closed. Please use an alternative route: take the Schladming Ost exit. From there, you can reach the park house via the west side of Planet Planai or the underground car park via the tunnel.

Double ski spectacle at night

This is where top-class sport meets party atmosphere - under floodlights and in the middle of the town. Because that's what makes Schladming so special: as one of the few World Cup venues, the finish stadium is located right in the town center and is therefore easily accessible - whether on foot, by shuttle or train.

What began in 1997 with the first Schladming night slalom in front of 27,000 enthusiastic fans is now a fixture on the World Cup calendar.

This means: top sporting quality, technical perfection and pure excitement right down to the last hundredth of a second - live on the Planai, one of the most prestigious courses in the international ski circuit. And tens of thousands of spectators celebrate an unparalleled winter sports festival in the heart of the Schladming-Dachstein vacation destination.
