Safely on the move: your hiking tour on the Planai & Hochwurzen

The Planai and Hochwurzen are a real paradise for hiking enthusiasts. To make your tour an unforgettable experience, one thing is particularly important: safety.

Good planning is half the battle

Before you set off, find out about the weather, route and level of difficulty. Even if the sky looks bright blue - the weather can change quickly in the mountains . It's best to start early and let someone know your route.

The right equipment counts

Good footwear, rain and sun protection, plenty of water, snacks and a map or GPS device belong in every rucksack. At the Bründl Sports store right by the valley station, you will find top advice and everything you need for your tour - from functional jackets to hiking poles.

Safely on the road with professionals

Do you want to get the most out of your hike and be safe on the road?

Then we recommend a guided tour with an experienced mountain guide. The Schladming-Dachstein Tourist Office regularly offers guided hikes - perfect for anyone who wants to learn more about nature or discover new routes.

There in an emergency when it counts

Despite all the preparation, something can happen. That's why it's good to know: Schladming Mountain Rescue, with around 55 volunteer mountain rescuers, is ready for action around the clock - professionally, quickly and on a voluntary basis.

Important numbers:
  • Alpine emergency number: 140
  • International emergency number: 112
What to do in an emergency?

The success of a rescue operation depends on the accuracy of your accident report!

  • Where did it happen? Precise details of the accident location and the weather situation
  • What has happened? Description of the accident
  • How many casualties? Specification of the number of injured
  • What type of injuries? Describe particularly life-threatening conditions
