We want everyone to be able to enjoy our beautiful mountain world - no matter what challenges you are facing. That's why, together with Special Olympics Austria , we do everything we can to enable people with disabilities to enjoy an unforgettable vacation .
With the non-profit organization Freizeit-PSO, the Planai and Hochwurzen offer barrier-free vacations. Whether you are a wheelchair user , have a visual impairment or live with an amputation or learning disability - at Freizeit-PSO you can experience your vacation individually and barrier-free.
Diverse offer & unforgettable moments
In winter , Freizeit PSO is a specialized ski school for people with disabilities . In summer , a wide range of activities are offered in the Schladming-Dachstein region, such as hiking, rafting, summer tobogganing, horse riding, high ropes course, laser biathlon and much more. All activities are adapted to the respective impairments.
At Freizeit-PSO you will find a wide range of trips:
- Barrier-free and inclusive family vacations
- Wheelchair vacations for people with paraplegia and other disabilities
- Climbing vacations, especially for people with amputations, visual impairments or blind people
- Special vacations for people with learning disabilities or multiple disabilities - also with 24-hour care
- Ski courses for people with disabilities (Austria's first ski school for people with disabilities)
- Courses in mono-skiing, bi-skiing, crutch skiing, skiing for the blind and more

barrier-free on the Planai & Hochwurzen
Planai
The 10-seater Planai main cable car takes you comfortably and barrier-free to the mountain station. The Planet Planai valley station is perfectly equipped for you thanks to its elevator and wheelchair-accessible toilet . The mountain station is also barrier-free and has a wheelchair-accessible toilet.
Would you like to go to Hopsiland to the fairytale meadow? No problem! The Hopsi-Express (inclined elevator) will take you there barrier-free.
Hochwurzen
You can also take the 10-seater gondola lift - Gipfelbahn Hochwurzen up to 1,850 m above sea level on the Hochwurzen . The valley station has a wheelchair-accessible toilet and a breathtaking view and the cozy Hochwurzenhütte mountain hut await you at the top.
