Installation of the cable car motor

Installation of the cable car motor

Step by step, our new cable car is taking shape. After reporting on the support flight in our last construction diary, which is always a spectacular highlight in the construction of a cable car, the next major milestone was already on the horizon: the installation of the mountain station.

Assembly using helicopters

A particular highlight this week was the installation of the cable car motor. This is a state-of-the-art direct drive without a gearbox, which, weighing 14 tonnes, is not only technically impressive but also a real logistical challenge. The motor was precisely positioned with the help of a powerful mobile crane. This is another visible step towards the completion of our new Mitterhausalm I connecting cable car.

At the same time, the installation of the tyre conveyors and track has already been completed. This means that the mountain station continues to grow. If everything goes according to plan, work on the mountain station will be completed next week before the construction crews continue with the valley station.

Completion of the supports

Meanwhile, a second team is working along the route to push ahead with the completion of the supports. Each support is carefully adjusted. This detail will be crucial for safe and smooth operation later on. The programme also includes the installation of supports 1 and 10 using a mobile crane, which will complete this section.

Further work on the mountain station

Once the technical installation of the mountain station has been completed, the next step is to install the cladding. This gives the structure its external appearance. This step not only provides protection and functionality, but is also crucial for the subsequent visual integration into the surroundings. At the same time, further important work is scheduled for the coming weeks: the installation of the electrical systems, the fine-tuning of the entire mechanics and extensive test runs to put the system through its paces. Step by step, the construction site will be transformed into the finished cable car, which will reliably transport our ski guests to Mitterhausalm II in the future.
