Winter Barbecue with Johann Lafer The Special Barbecue Event
On Sunday, March 29, 2026, the Planai in the Schladming-Dachstein region was once again transformed into a winter barbecue paradise. Under the guidance of celebrity chef Johann Lafer, 230 barbecue enthusiasts prepared a three-course Styrian meal at the Schafalm.
Whether you’re an amateur cook or a foodie, everyone got a taste of the action at the winter barbecue on the Planai.
Against a snow-covered mountain backdrop, shared enjoyment and grilling took center stage at the event, which once again drew numerous barbecue enthusiasts to the Schafalm on March 29, 2026.
A total of 230 guests, with 29 grills in action, prepared a Styrian three-course meal right on the grill under the guidance of celebrity chef Johann Lafer. Supported by the Weber Grill Master team, the event created a culinary experience that combined regional flavors with creativity. From smoked char in a cookie jar to chicken in Zweigelt sauce and apple slices with caramelized walnuts— each dish stood out with its own unique character.
Winter barbecuing isn’t just about enjoyment—it’s also for a good cause: The grills provided by Weber-Stephen Austria GmbH were sold after the event, with the proceeds going to the Liezen Child Protection Center, which provides guidance and support to children and adolescents facing difficult life situations.
With the winter barbecue, Planai adds another highlight to its diverse range of events and demonstrates how cuisine and experience can be harmoniously combined.
